Buzzard hiking trail

I noticed the English version of the hiking trail page is in Dutch, so here translation (and I couldn’t help myself to add my own comments, apologies):

The Buzzard invites the hiker for 4.1mi through forest area, ancient avenues and agricultural lands. You will pass through heather but Buzzard will mainly show you meadows of Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide.

This trail is located in Steertse Heide/Heather (Dutch and English being Germanic languages shows, however English speaking people will – most probably – butcher pronunciation of “ei” sound since its practically pronounced identically). I will not be going into detail about the differences between Dutch and Belgian part being spelled Staartse or Steertse. An invisible border but different names although in this instance the difference is ignorable.

The hike starts at parking area north from Essen in Verbindingsstraat. The sounds of birds and winds in trees accompanies you throughout the trail and, if you are lucky, perhaps you might spot a deer or buzzard. This trail is most probably one of the more quiet spots in the whole park. Buzzard trail is farthest away from existing roads and expressways. Also bear in mind the path is partly shared horse riding trail. Dogs are NOT allowed if you take this gpx. They are allowed on a leash when you do follow the actual route. I walked through wild grazers area (Galloway), no dogs allowed. Photo 28/33 shows my shortcut through wild grazer area. For some weird reason I stopped checking the waymarks and just wanted to get home. Yes, it was hot even as early as 10.30. At the end of my hikes my focus is all over the place (or just gone) but never where it is needed.

When you are no dog owner, you might prefer the route I took in the end to have wide views of heather. (photos 31 and 32/33)
